RIAZ HUSAIN
Riaz Husain was born in 1953, is a naturalized British citizen originally from Pakistan and now holds Luxembourg citizenship. He is a B.Com and an MAAT.
After completing his articles in Manchester in 1975, he stayed on with the same firm for a further two years, completing the Professional Examination I of the ICAEW.
He moved to London in 1977 as Chief Accountant in a small ship management company and left in 1981. He joined a multinational organization with its holding company in Luxembourg, as part of its shipping division. He moved to Luxembourg in July 1981 and stayed with the same company until August 1992. He managed a team of six accountants and was also involved in the preparation of the group’s consolidated financial statements.
Riaz joined a trust company in 1992 as a client accountant. In 1997, he became Manager of the client accounting team of five people and then ran the fund accounting function until it was outsourced.
In May 2006, Riaz joined HT Group on the audit team of the company, and within six months became the team leader for the accountancy and audit departments. His role is to supervise the timely preparation of clients’ accounts and review the files prior to client approval. He also manages the various audits including companies quoted on the Luxembourg, London and Johannesburg stock exchanges, as well as private equity companies in Luxembourg, a real estate fund, special purpose vehicles and a construction consultant.
English and Urdu are his mother tongues; he reads French fluently but hesitates to use it conversationally.
